Freetown flood relief appeal

FoE-SL is a registered non-profit organization based in Sierra Leone which is committed to improving educational standards throughout Western Sierra Leone. Most of our work is conducted in and around the capital city, Freetown.

In the early morning hours of August 14, 2017, mudslides and torrential flooding killed at least 300 people in and around Sierra Leone's capital following heavy rains. According to initial Red Cross estimates, as many as 3,000 people have been left homeless by the disaster, and the figure is expected to rise. However, it is anticipated that it may take weeks before the true damage and death toll are known.

Friends of Education Sierra Leone (FoESL) has quickly mobilized to provide on-the-ground support to the flood victims. Our team is now collecting donations and supplies for distribution to established response centres through the relevant authorities and community groups.

FoE has no administrative costs and is run by volunteers. We can guarantee that every penny donated will go directly towards the relief effort. All funds raised will be accounted for and will go towards assisting with immediate needs such as food, clothing, shelter and everyday basics for those most affected by this tragic disaster.
